This week a break from the normal #4VF sessions as we are not dealing with a normal week in the music world. Sadly of late we have lost many of legends but none have shaken me as much as the passing of Robert Miles this week. From the age of 8, since 1995, his music has inspired my tastes and captured my emotions...so here we have 4 releases from the great man, that I hope if its only 'Children' bought you'll some works not known:

Robert Miles - Dreamland (1996)

This is probably my second most listened to album of all time. Every single track is just stunning with memorable piano melodies laden in each tune. It starts of with his world known and instantly recognisable 'Children' and it just keeps getting better fro there.

'Children' was originally written for club nights in Italy where kids were driving home too fast and causing many crashes and deaths as were too hyped from the night just experienced, so Robert produced it to have something o bring them down. In turn saving lives. Not just in that instance but I imagine that track has saved and created many of lives.

For me 'Princess of Light' off the album really gets my emotions flowing, followed by 'Fable'. I urge you to really give the whole album a listen here:

Robert Miles - 23am (1997)

By far my most listened to album of all time. Dreamy, Majestic, Mind altering, Uplifting, Calming, Inspirational are just a few words that could be used to describe this album. Released just a year after 'Dreamland' (although an insanely great album) I believe 23am shows a more timeless, mature sound that will sound fresh forever.

A move away from the four to the floor Trance beats that show throughout 'Dreamland'. Here we have a more laid back broken beat that sits behind the tracks which just compliment the tunes sooooo well. Non so much as the 4th Track 'Freedom', the vocals from this track and 'Enjoy' have really guided my life in ways you couldn't imagine.

Please, please, please just sit back and give this album a listen:

Robert Miles - Thirteen

Throw out all you thought you knew about Robert Miles' previous sound when listening to this album. Just sit back and let it take you off with its Guitar laden tracks that just never would have thought would have come from the man that wrote 'Children'. Some is just like instrumental rock and by god is it lovely. 'Black Rubber' is a favourite of mine.

Its funny when you know why Robert selected his surname. Born Roberto Concina. Robert originally began playing his set under the name of Robert Milani in the 80s before eventually adopting the name Robert Miles. He later revealed that he chose the surname Miles because it was symbolic of the the musical journey awaiting him.

Sit back with an open head and listen to this album. A few tracks are missing from youtube so advise going out and purchasing it properly:

Robert Miles - Children (4 Clubbers remix)

Ok its not the original but when this was released in 2000 in gave new life to an already massive anthem. With the breakdowns pretty much engaging with the original piano melody being untouched then rising into fully energetic Trance synths and arps. Meant you could play Robert Miles 'Children' at peak times in your sets and not have to wait until you bringing your journey to an end.

Check this remix out, I promise you will not disappointed:

I just want to say Roberto where ever you are up in the stars thank you for giving me and the world such beautiful music. You will never be forgotten for how you've influenced my life up until now. I just wish our journeys would have had us cross paths at some point but god obviously didn't see that fit. Rest In Peace.
